Understanding why the immune system attacks kidney tissue is central to our client’s research. Trained as a pediatrician at Hacettepe University, he later earned a Ph.D. in medical science at Osaka University, studying mechanisms that regulate immune responses. His subsequent research brought this expertise into nephrology and regenerative medicine, using stem-cell-derived kidney organoids, laboratory-grown models of kidney tissue, to investigate disease and transplant rejection. His proposed work in the United States focuses on improving these models and studying approaches to limit immune-mediated injury.
Our firm presented his EB-2 NIW petition around this specific research agenda and its relevance to kidney disease and transplantation. We highlighted his contributions to studies examining immune responses against engineered human kidney tissue, together with work on organoid maturation and the development of blood vessel networks. His publications, conference presentations, research experience, and advanced training supported his preparation to carry the work forward. The petition explained how these experimental platforms could help researchers evaluate immune reactions and potential therapies, connecting his laboratory expertise with broader healthcare research needs.
The petition received USCIS approval under the EB-2 National Interest Waiver category. For this researcher, the next scientific questions remain closely connected: how to make engineered kidney tissue more functional, how to understand its interaction with the immune system, and how to protect it from rejection. His approved petition centered on pursuing those questions in the United States, with the long-term goal of informing better approaches to kidney disease and transplantation.
